Global Warming: A greenie’s call to arms

With all the scare-mongering about the so-called problem of global warming, we are forced to come to the conclusion that, if true, this is not a good thing. If you are an environmentalist on the other hand, it is a call to arms. It is a reason to take action and to pick a fight. In this way, the issue of global warming has become a good thing for those who champion the environmental cause (I’m not talking about the hypocrites). It is an excuse to demand of the government, “you are playing with our future, WE WANT ACTION”. It is a reason to protest, a cause in life, a passion. Those evil multinational corporations, those evil governments raping our planet.

What would happen however if their world was turned upside down, what if they found out that it wasn’t true. Would there be relief or dismay that their life has been devoted to a fraud? Perhaps there would be a loss of meaning to their lives. Or would they be bitterly dissappointed that it is not true? Is it then something that they want to believe? They would rather that we be facing utter catastrophe, giving them a reason to promote their idealogical agendas and calling the activist within them to arms. Perhaps it is human nature to advocate and want to believe impending disaster. Is this why they refuse to acknowledge the skeptical side of the argument, why they cannot accept climategate as a significant challenger to their faith? Why they so aggressively try to shut down “deniers” and declare the debate to be over.

This is the problem with global warming. It detracts from real environmental issues. When the hysteria is all over and the world comes to realise the fraud we are currently subjected to, I wonder how the environmental movement will be viewed. This issue after all is what has led the greens in Australia to their current political position, holding the balance of power in both houses. If their means to power turned out to be based on a lie, they would almost certainly be finished forever. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love nothing more than to see these idealogical crackpots relegated to a severe minority of support where they can no longer harm anyone at the expense of their crusades. What would be tragic however is that real environmental causes, like the plight of the whales, would be dismissed by the public as some left wing agenda.

About Climate Nonconformist

Hi, I'm the climatenonconformist (not my real name), and I am a global warming skeptic, among the few in generation Y. With Australia facing the prospect of a carbon tax, we need to be asking the simple question; where is the evidence that our emissions are causing any dangerous warming?

The global warming alarmists must surely know their case is week. Otherwise why would they be so scared of debate.
