A recent poll by the Lowy Institute has found that Australia’s attitudes towards global warming has softened. Only 41% of Australians now think that global warming is a serious issue, down from 68% in 2006. As Andrew Bolt points out, “one in three warmists have cooled”. 39% do not want to pay a cent extra to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and 75% think the government’s response is poor.
It is interesting to note that after Gillard’s lie over not having a carbon dioxide tax, she has tried to claim a mandate by suggesting Australians want action on global warming. It would seem now that even this thin excuse has a rapidly-declining basis.
