Their Say

Andrew Bolt notes how four of the top five questions in The Age’s ‘Our Say’ segment has been dominated by skeptics. The other one questions who is paying Alan Jones and Bolt to run down the consensus. Guess which one The Age choses to feature.

Last I checked the site, this question had been relegated to fourth, with three skeptics questions before it. It will be interesting to see how The Age wriggles out of these questions. It will be even more interesting to see how they handle the question of this little conspiracy theorist.

“There are some very vocal and seemingly influential climate change sceptics who have been given well supported platforms by some media organisations in Australia. 2GB’s broadcasting of Alan Jones and News Limited’s publishing of Andrew Bolt is a couple of examples that spring to mind. It appears that these media organisations have the goal of destroying the credibility of anyone who supports the science of and actions to mitigate the effects of human civilization’s influences on earth’s climate. Do these media organisations obtain funding from any corporate, organisational or individual entities with a vested interest in maintain the industrial status quo where unlimited greenhouse gas emissions are largely the norm?”
– Mark Dennis

UPDATE: This question has now been relegated to fifth. Looks like this may backfire on The Age.

About Climate Nonconformist

Hi, I'm the climatenonconformist (not my real name), and I am a global warming skeptic, among the few in generation Y. With Australia facing the prospect of a carbon tax, we need to be asking the simple question; where is the evidence that our emissions are causing any dangerous warming?

One Response to Their Say

  1. Richard A says:

The poll is rigged ! On Sunday I submitted my question which quickly shot to 13 votes before noticing that it was a double post, the other identical post having 6 votes. I emailed pointing out the double post and specifically requested that they add the 6 votes to the 13 vote post as that post also had 5 comments. I chased them up again, to be told they were working on the problem. Well you can guess what happened they deleted the 13 vote post! Then to be told “The system has been created in a way …. to counter any illegitimate voting. You have plenty of time to share and promote your question.” So please play their game and vote for “Labor constantly says per capita Oz world’s worst polluter. Yet we rate 14th, with 1.5% of global emissions. China has 20 times more. Labor aims to reduce our emissions by 5%, resulting in 0.07% global reduction. If China reduced their emissions by 5% that = our total global emission. The $30 billion churn seems a waste of time & money as it will have no impact on climate change especially while India, China and America emissions grow.”
