We found out this week that the government is going to make it as hard as possible for their carbon tax to be repealed. This blight on democracy came to light thanks to the parliamentary secretary for climate change, Mark Dreyfus. In his later defence of the issue, he had to stretch the truth to claim the world is acting to reduce emissions. He cites the non-binding Copenhagen accord, where the world’s major economies promised (much like Gillard) to slash emissions.
Dishonourable mention this week to Ross Garnaut, for his ludicrous suggestion that the world is watching to see what Australia does on carbon. Ironically, this contradicts the aforementioned Dreyfus assertion that the rest of the world is acting. Warmists can never agree on this. Just imagine Obama sitting on the deck of the white house, thinking to himself, ‘if those Aussies can do it, then so can we’. More likely he’s thinking ‘how do I save the economy…and my doomed presidency?’
