The hate of big oil

Oh how greenies hate the fossil fuel industry. Big coal, big oil, they just love to hate them. They’re just big, evil corporations who are out to poison the planet, just to turn a profit. To some, the meat industry is also evil. Some of these greenies are vegetarians who think it’s just wrong to eat animals, but not all impose this ideology on others. I can respect that. Some of these however, do impose this view and think anyone who eats meat is themselves evil. When you ask them, “what’s the point in abstaining from meat, seeing as anything brought at the supermarket is already dead?”, they’ll tell you that buying meat feeds the demand for it, and hence the industry. How is this different to fossil fuels?

Some environmentalists have their own solar panels, use renewable energy. Good on them, they live as they preach. Others however, don’t and love to hate big oil, assisted by their impression that they’re funding every scientist skeptical of global warming. There is some hypocrisy there, in helping to fuel a demand for a product that they regard as being evil to traffic. If there was a sin in the fossil fuel market, then it would be shared equally by the big companies and the consumers.

About Climate Nonconformist

Hi, I'm the climatenonconformist (not my real name), and I am a global warming skeptic, among the few in generation Y. With Australia facing the prospect of a carbon tax, we need to be asking the simple question; where is the evidence that our emissions are causing any dangerous warming?

  1. Sean says:

The odd thing is that Big Oil loves the environmentalists. And why not, if rules and regulations make it more difficult to explore and extract, big oil gets a much higher price for their product. Oil from Canadian tar sands costs nearly $70 per barrel to process. It’s profitable when crude prices are high but the environmentalist insist on policies that keep oil prices as high as tolerable creating the margins making their development attractive. I wonder if the environmentalists realize the smiles they put on the faces of oil company shareholders?

  2. Adolf was a vegan – extreme vegetarian. He didn’t like anybody to spill blood for his diner. He was the first politician to impose the highest taxes for cigarettes. It was big penalty for anybody smocking in his bunker.

In the African countries, where is not much fuel used – no Greens; by natural selection. In the western democracies natural selection will start again in few years. When western economies goes belly up – Chinese economy takes control; the leading Greens will wash of the green camouflage and start promoting Red again. Those chameleons will use any colour – to control / fleece the Urban Sheep.
