The Climate Fool this week is the whole stinkin’ government for passing the carbon tax legislation through the lower house. This includes the greens and independents. It is a tax opposed by the Australian people by more than 2:1, making this victory by the government one over the electorate. Labor’s celebrations were epitomised by the Gillard-Rudd kiss, which sickened those whose views they had disregarded. And the part that really got me was that not one Labor MP had the guts to oppose this tax. We know there are those who do not support the carbon dioxide tax, yet none had the courage to stand by their convictions, and stand up for their constituents. This tax comes as the rest of the world is backing away from “action on climate change”, with Kyoto set to die for good, and the EU taking one step forward and two steps back. To go with all this, the Joint Select Committee refused to publish the submissions of Australians who opposed the tax.
There is a dishonourable mention this week, for Michael Mann who has contradicted his own work by claiming European settlement of North America led to the Little Ice Age (which MBH98 says never happened).
