The vote in the senate was a mere formality. With the greens controlling the upper house, the carbon tax was always going to pass. However, it wasn’t until is did actually pass that the true magnitude of this betrayal of the Australian people could be viewed.

Will the rest of the world follow our dangerous lead on this one? Al Gore thinks so, calling it a ” pivotal corner in the collective effort to solve the climate crisis”. He’s actually contradicted Gillard and Combet on this one, who insist the rest of the world is moving. The next bit is a joke surely, not that I find it in any way funny.

As the world’s leading coal exporter, there’s no doubt that opposition to this legislation was fierce. But through determination and commitment, the voice of the people of Australia has rung out loud and clear.

The Herald Sun poll shows three out of four opposing it. Our voice has been denied. And what I find particularly astounding is the insinuation that the ordinary people who oppose it are protecting their interests in coal. Why does this guy continually talk about things he knows nothing about?

About Climate Nonconformist

Hi, I'm the climatenonconformist (not my real name), and I am a global warming skeptic, among the few in generation Y. With Australia facing the prospect of a carbon tax, we need to be asking the simple question; where is the evidence that our emissions are causing any dangerous warming?

One Response to Betrayed

    Hi CNC,
It is alright for Mr Gore to gloat as shown on his website. He has invested enough in time and propaganda to make this come about, with collaboration from the Australian Conservation Foundation sponsoring over 400 of Al Gore The Climate Project connectors being trained in Australia, some in very public positions such as Cate Blanchett, and the ex ACTU head Sharan Burrow.
And this has mushroomed into diverse connections such as the Union Climate connectors, so we can be assured of having an Al Gore clone “on every street corner.”
Mr Gore also had “audience” with previous PM Kevin Rudd in 2009.
He has invested his time well, and now we are going to pay, and pay and …………….
