Government’s vested interests

Scientists on the government payroll or who receive public grants have a vested interest in the global warming scare, as it ensures the flow of money, so long as there is a problem that requires it. I’m not suggesting anything improper beyond what has been exposed by the climategate emails, but it is something we must consider when we are faced with more and more alarmist predictions. Economist Thomas Sowell explains this phenomenon – how the excess of government created conflicts of interest – with respect to minimum wage laws.

A Marxist even while studying under Milton Friedman, it was only when Sowell took a job working for the government did he turn towards free market principles. There he witnessed how the bureaucrats, whose jobs depended on the minimum wage laws, reacted unenthusiastically to the possibility that the rules they were enforcing were costing jobs.

While we are on Thomas Sowell, here the Professor explains how intellectuals also have a vested interest in the global warming idea.

About Climate Nonconformist

Hi, I'm the climatenonconformist (not my real name), and I am a global warming skeptic, among the few in generation Y. With Australia facing the prospect of a carbon tax, we need to be asking the simple question; where is the evidence that our emissions are causing any dangerous warming?
