Carr sells us out

New Foreign Minister Bob Carr has volunteered to testify against the country he is supposed to represent.

FOREIGN Minister Bob Carr has volunteered Australia to give evidence on behalf of poor nations that want the United Nations to investigate if big emitters – potentially including Australia – have a legal responsibility to keep their greenhouse  gases from hurting  other countries.

In an interview with The Saturday Age in New York, Mr Carr said he had told UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon  Australia would give evidence supporting a push led by Palau for a UN resolution asking the International Court of Justice to assess  how much countries were responsible for the damage their emissions did overseas.

Climate law experts said that if the resolution was successful, it   could be the first step by  worst-affected nations in seeking reparations from countries such as the US, China and Australia.

This fits right into the leftist mantra of social justice. If a person or a nation is disadvantaged, then it must be the fault of those who are well off. Global warming allows these people to justify such a redistribution of wealth, and it will come at Australia’s expense. As Ron Paul says; “foreign aid is taking money from poor people in this country and giving it to rich people in poor countries.”

About Climate Nonconformist

Hi, I'm the climatenonconformist (not my real name), and I am a global warming skeptic, among the few in generation Y. With Australia facing the prospect of a carbon tax, we need to be asking the simple question; where is the evidence that our emissions are causing any dangerous warming?

  1. On the Phenomenon of Atmospheric Backradiation

The phenomenon of “atmospheric backradiation” is presently advanced as an explanation of thermal conditions on Earth, and as the basis of some statements about climate change. However, scientific evaluation in strict accord with the laws of physics and mathematics suggests that “atmospheric backradiation” is physical nonsense.

ther is little evidence to support climate change.. but i wonder if we should be preparing a class action for all the pensioners and children who will get ill and possibly die simply because homes can not be heated. i wonder if Mr Flannery and Ms Gillard are willing to be held personally responsible and legally accountable for each and every day business looses due to medically diagnosed illness from the cold for folks who can no longer afford to heat their homes.

  3. Geoffry Simkins says:

Australia really does have a problem. I can understand, in a way, how Julia Gillard can be prepared to sell Australia to the Greens in order to enable her to gain or hold power.

Bob Carrs offer looks to me to be more like treason. When the Climate change scare finally collapses it would be nice to think that these people will be judged and will spend their later days in prison contemplating how they betrayed Australia. Despots, the lot of them.

Once again I sit here in utter disbelief, will this madness never end.

As Marcus Aurelius – Roman Emperor was wont to say : “The object in life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane”.

  5. Robert says:

Carr is a traitor. He left NSW in ruins when he quit through underinvestment in infrastructure and generally lazy management. Now, without anyone voting for him, he ends up as Foreign Minister in a lame duck government that does not carry the support of the people. He has NO RIGHT to speak on behalf of any Australians. NO-ONE voted him into Federal Parliament. Anyone who considers Australia is a democracy is dreaming!!

  6. Mike Bromley the Canucklehead says:

Yup, Rex, great quote. Aurelius nailed it, even as he slipped into madness.

  7. Laurie says:

So can I presume he will be testifying that Australia is a net “sink” for carbon dioxide emissions and therefore Australia should be receiving appropriate compensation from other countries in direct proportion as to whether they are “souces or sinks” of CO2?

  8. bushwanker says:

This is the insanity of Socialism. Morally, the Gillard government are treasonous but I fear the individuals in that government will not pay the penalty in their lifetime. Their responsibility is to Australia & Australians not to meter out their perceived social justice to all and sundry with a sob story. Socialism is being driven by the UN.
I am a AGW & ACC skeptic. Scientists around the world are being gagged & manipulated by left leaning politicians & the UN.

  9. Much, if not all the aid funds that Australia provides poorer nations makes our politicians feel good about themselves is not on a Government to Government basis but politician to politician and finishes up in Swiss banks with diplomatic immunity. Hilary Clinton blocked $5 billion aid to Iraq. Australia is not wealthy at the expense of poorer nations.

  10. Victor H Pigott says:

I would not concern yourself too much about an opinion from the International court of Justice as it is just that, an opinion, and cannot be enforced. Don’t forget that in 2004 the ICJ said that the Israeli Security Wall was contrary to International Law, but the Wall is still in existence. Let Carr rave on as he only makes a fool of himself and his Government; they are dead men walking.

  11. barrone says:

Mr Carr is just another irrational idiot who will be dealt with accordingly when the time comes.

That time is getting closer every day , and he is just making a fool of himself , and Australia.

As he did with New South Wales.
Pity Australians don’t have the spirit to stand up and eject this lot .

    • Indeed, fish rot from the head too. Australia is not wealthy because the other nations are poor an the UN has become just a money pit if one has ever visited the HQ in New York. the same conclusion is easy to reach while much of the Worlds troubles are allowed to fester. Mogadishu is but one of them. The boy soldiers of Kony another.

  12. Karen Ward says:

Sick, sick and sick again. We’ve just recently spent 3/52 in Vietnam. These countries need to prove they’re really addressing the problem of unstainable overpopulation and degradation of their environment B/4 developed or so-called First World countries give anything to them that is unconditional. The population don’t care how they stuff up even World Heritage icons like Ha Long Bay – diesal trails caused by over the top decrepid boats, plastic, polystyrene and other crap! It’s unforgiveable – we need to make sure these countries educate the masses. I’m not going to give my hard-earned money to despots and corruptable Governments to squander on anything they think will enhance their lifestyles unconditionally. Karen….Bob Carr – get back into your box. You’re not representing me or my family or friends.

    • Or me either, and. I fail to see why we should be in Afghanistan, the Worlds biggest producer of opium either unless it is to wipe out the scourge of heroin. But reading of Bob Carr;s antics reminded me that while resident in Asia for 22 years, Australian politicians are regarded as little boys trying to be big boys with a big mouth and too much pocket money..

      • Norma says:

Yes I have observed that view too China are quiet and respectful residents whilst living in our country however the expression of wide-eyed amazement and head hanging is often the result of hearing this government’s views and policies…why do we have to buy into Bob Carr’s views or give theatre to our “generous pledges” to undeveloped or corrupt countries?

  13. Gbees says:

Mr Carr, this attack on Australia is just another version of socialism. You cannot hide from the word which you describe in your essay (, as it is not the word that is the problem rather the policies which you and your lunatic buddies in Canberra are attempting to propagate. Australians are awake to socialism in any of the forms you try to conceal …. it stinks and so does your intention to sell out Australia based upon the fraud, which is, man-made global warming (AGW). Re-distribution of wealth is bad enough but when it’s being advocated because of a lie (AGW), it’s time for ordinary Australians to take a stand. And that we will ….
