The Australian people were given explicit assurances that no carbon tax would be foisted upon us.

January 23, 2011:

Whoops! So much for that. Gillard announces the carbon tax alongside her partners in the minority government. Just who is running the country?

February 24, 2011:

The electorate isn’t happy and Tony Abbott’s predicting a “people’s revolt“.

March 20, 2011:

Oh. So now people are going to be compensated. The carbon tax is just a destructive cycle of pointlessness.

March 23, 2011:

Yes, the protests came. Ordinary Australians who were incensed that they had been lied to, and what does Labor do? Smear them as extremists and liken them to the KKK.

May 29, 2011:

A GetUp-bankrolled ad tries to sell the carbon tax.

June 20, 2011:

Hope? Abbott tries to get a plebiscite on the carbon tax.

July 3, 2011:

A saving grace. Petrol is excluded from carbon tax.

July 8, 2011:

GetUp tries to blackmail businesses that oppose the carbon tax.

July 10, 2011:

A price of $23/tonne is announced. It is the world’s biggest carbon tax.

July 16, 2011:

Another six federal bureaucracies to administer the carbon tax.

July 17, 2011:

Labor places $25 million of our dollars into the toilet and flushes it into a propaganda campaign.

August 2011:

Clean Energy propaganda hits Australian doorsteps. Fun is had.

August 22, 2011:

Convoy of No Confidence hits Canberra. Australia is fighting back. Albanese goes on the offensive.

September 16, 2011:

Henry Ergas reveals the parts in the carbon tax that make it difficult to repeal.

October, 2011:

Government ignores submissions against its tax.

October 12, 2011:

Tax passes House of Representatives. The lie is complete. Abbott steps up the campaign, making a “pledge in blood“.

November 8, 2011:

The Senate completes the betrayal.

April 10, 2012:

A promising legal opinion. But then, Obamacare was supposed to be unconstitutional.

May 4, 2012:

The list of affected companies is released. Turns out, they’re not so big.

May 10, 2012:

More money wasted on ads. I find this series particularly infuriating.

June 21, 2012:

The Gold Coast Mayor shows some guts.

July 1, 2012:

We can no longer hope an early election can prevent the carbon tax. Tony Abbott is going to have to repeal the damn thing. In the meantime, just how much damage will it cause?
